New York State Legislative Scorecard

Scores for New York State Legislators are based on: sponsorship of legislation in the area addressed; answers on Pride Agenda Political Action Committee (PAC) questionnaires; past floor or committee votes on the bills discussed; comments made in the press; participation in the Pride Agenda's "New Yorkers for the Freedom to Marry" initiative; and/or comments made to Pride Agenda staff or constituents. For the Assembly scorecard, scores are based upon actual votes Assemblymembers took during the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions on: marriage equality, Dignity for All Students Act and the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act. The scoring system translates as follows:

1	Publically in support of issue (e.g. marriage equality, Dignity for All Students Act, or the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act)
2	Has indicated support
3	Position unknown or unclear
4	Has indicated opposition
5	Publically opposed

This scorecard will be updated periodically. Note that the marriage score is exclusively for the issue of marriage equality and does not indicate a legislator's position on civil unions, domestic partnerships, or any other family protection measure.
