Saluting Roberta Kaplan and Evan Wolfson at the 2013 Fall Dinner

We are thrilled to announce that two New York marriage pioneers, Roberta A. Kaplan and Evan Wolfson, will be honored with Douglas W. Jones Leadership Awards at our Fall Dinner on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York City.

Please join us as a Sponsor or Table Captain -- salute these heroes and demonstrate your commitment to our continued work advocating for LGBT New Yorkers and our families.

We look forward to another momentous evening as New Yorkers gather to celebrate the Supreme Court’s repeal of Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act. Roberta (Robbie) Kaplan victoriously represented Edie Windsor in the historic case challenging the constitutionality of DOMA. Long-time civil rights leader Evan Wolfson is widely acclaimed as one of the original architects of the marriage movement before launching Freedom to Marry in 2003.

Billy Porter, Pride Agenda Board Member and 2013 Tony Award winner, will emcee the event and give a special performance during the evening’s program. Mr. Porter has been winning rave reviews for his turn as Lola in the Tony-winning Best Musical, Kinky Boots.

With your help, the Empire State Pride Agenda has built a formidable movement of LGBT people and allies across our great state. And the work that you have supported in New York has greatly impacted the movement for equality across the nation.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and look forward to seeing you on October 17!

Warmly,

Nathan M. Schaefer
Executive Director
Empire State Pride Agenda
